Although I started with a different idea , I ended up with this poem. A friend of mine says it is confusing. Maybe it is. I am myself not sure what prompted me for this post. So , maybe I will some day re write it. As for today , please bear with this ๐
a challenge,
a quest,
a vain effort to impress ..
My first poem
to a friend
long lost now,
in the mad crowds,
but he still remains
in memories and verse,
my love for poetry
was a discovery to myself.
a prayer
a request
a silent wish to angels ..
This poem today
for another friend
lost he feels,
yet holding hands,
I shall stay
forever here,
for words will remain
as much as my cares.

your poems always leaves a smile on my face.
So glad about it !!
Very nice journey you have stated. The need to write a poem back then and need to write it now – wonderfully captured. Friends (or rather people) often become our muse ๐
I particularly love the first half of your poem. I relate to “a vain attempt to impress”. Probably too many of my poems fit that description. And the line “he remains in memories and in verse” brought a knowing nod of understanding for I, too, have those who have been but are no longer any more than a memory or a verse. Well done!
“For words will remain.” I love that line! So fluid and finite…
Nicely done. As Amy said I too love that line, “he remains in memories and in verse” loss makes for powerful fodder for poetry.
I am certain, that the friend for whom that you originally and the friend for whom you’ve written today, must feel very proud that you’re their friend. There’s nothing better than poem for a gift.. Lovely, Nimue!
“a silent wish to angels” ..nice thought..
I love the format, the idea of a silent wish to angels, and the second stanza is marvelous.
