Of all gifts, one could ask,
I never would have written beauty
in my birthday wishlist –
a mistake I wouldn’t make again
Fall colors as far as eyes could see,
curving wet roads, red leaves floating
on the chilly air kissing my bare face.
such bliss; so much blessed this year
witnessing to postcard beauty –
something my dreams were made of;
Best Birthday memory.
Last weekend, I went on a little day trip to Algonquin Park to witness the fall colors. I had only seen some pictures before this online and I was not prepared for the breathtaking beauty that I found myself surrounded with. So blessed to be spending this year in a place that is so beautiful.

Those fall colors are beautiful. They make a wonderful birthday gift.
Truly ! So glad I could see them with my own eyes once π
Well happy birthday, and I’m glad you had such a majestic time!
Thank you for the wishes π
The colors are rich… and it’s needed against the grey
Oh yeah , we are going to keep checking these pictures when it becomes so white / grey soon.
This was really nice to read. π
Fall is one of my favorite times of year, although it can get very cold here in Washington State. I am happy for you that you can take in all the visual beauty of the vibrant colors there in Canada. The first time I really saw Fall was when I moved here many years ago now as a young mother from Southern CA, which really does not have Fall per se as it is warm pretty much year round. It is amazing to see such glorious colors in nature. Glad you are enjoying it all.
A lovely way to spend a birthday.
Happy Birthday! So glad you posted to the prompt.
I especially liked these descriptive lines:
“red leaves floating
on the chilly air kissing my bare face.”
and
“postcard beauty”.
thank you for the wishes and the kind words.
I like your opening lines, “Of all gifts, one could ask,
I never would have written beauty.” The Autumn leaves aglow make a wonderful birthday gift.
Many happy returns of the day! How lovely to have a birthday in October when the whole world lights up for you each year.
