M loving this !!

Of books , lessons , stories and some people

So this is nothing new that I am trying but maybe more regular. While writing fiction most days, I feel I have developed an entirely new glass to see the world through (And its a lovely one indeed). So for once a week / 10 days , I will try to write of the other stuff I feel I should mention ( no particular reason ) . Read if you wish ..

first is a note of thanks ( many many thanks ) to slpmartin  . none inspires , amazes and makes you feel good about writing like he does. There are days when I write knowing he will atleast read it and if liked , his comments are so heartfelt. Thank you !

Best of the last week would be a home trip after a long time ( although it was for short duration ) and the Visit to book fair !

The Book fair .. After making and cancelling the plans 4 times for the book fair , Sunday evening I got down at the Pragati Maidan Metro station for no real reason. I was getting suffocated  in the metro maybe or I just did not want to reach my room that early .. whatever be the cause ,  I found myself standing on the platform and blankly staring at the people coming in / out of the metros. After 3 metros have passed I realized I was just 100 m away from the book fair. And that’s when I made a run for it. Two hours at the venue with my heavy bag on shoulders , I visited half the halls , specially the theme hall , bought a story collection by Premchand ( I always wanted to read him ) and came back with a lovely Ganesha Poster ( Pic to be shared later) . God totally loves me !!

I also finished reading A Calendar too Crowded yesterday [ click here for the detailed review ] while reviewing ,  I forgot to mention a story from the book. So this tale is of a “nice girl who deserves / will get better ” . I could relate to the ideas and feelings of this girl who is too nice for being a girlfriend or even ask some guy to consider the option while she keeps helping every one around. But what I was thankful about was the lesson with which the chapter closes. The author states that If you are such a girl, you sure should love yourself the most ’cause you are the best and nicest girl around. And do not be upset over the guys who did not value you. Remember , You are a nice girl and you deserve better.

😀

Well all is not so happy in the world. And We often see prejudiced people around us. Yesterday night I went to get vegetables from the nearest shop and there was this long queue [ ok , just 5 people before me. but usually there is NO queue there ] at the billing counter. When I went to join the queue , the lady in the last indicated me to take her place and she stood behind me. I was surprised at this generosity until I realized that in front of me stood a house maid in old clothes. The lady behind me was still staring at her with such disgust that I felt so odd. She could not even bear to stand behind the maid ? really ??

ufff  🙁

And lastly , check this blog started by @vivekisms : http://55words.blogspot.in/  – A new theme for #55wordstory each day. Some day I will share all the stories I wrote for the blog. Well thats all for now.  More good and bad of my days in next post.

When nimue met Arpita ;)

An awkward hug and introductions done,
setting the context and randomness,
venue reached and feel the energy flow
check random stalls,some more explored;
books attract, so does book-full talks,
while among illustrations, and stories we walked.
Books bought (as expected or maybe not)
the shine in eyes bright even at the thought,
Oh did I mention the mean call made,
to make some one jealous of my day;
sizzling hot Momos and chilled fruit beer,
not more interesting than our banter though;
Books were borrowed, the objective of meeting met
but more special was the mutual feeling
of reaching out to similar minded gems.

I wish I had few pics toa dd here, anyways , This post is a memory of meeting Arpita today afternoon. I had always enjoyed her reviews at the book blog I am a part of. but meeting was so much more fun ! Looking forward to see you again soon.

And oh, thanks for the treat 😉

Enjoy the books 😀 !

Last weekend Loot !!

Well last weekend was a package deal ! And such an amazing time !!

And it was also a beginning of another lost hobby – to write random lyrics in a notebook that always adorns the bedside. Here is the first set ( one of my mom’s favorite) in hindi –

This is the song my mom kind of gave as a lesson when we were of the age to have feelings for guys. My mother is a pretty cool lady. I remember her asking this question from time to time if I had a boyfriend or if I liked some one during college years. Here’s the song :

[ Its opening lines and the rest of it has one message – It is not possible for any human to leave all the world / his possessions for the sake of love. The song further says that what if you could not be together for life , isn’t it enough that your hearts were one once ! ]

Have a great weekend !

Story – 3 : A bit of him and her

Read previous part of the story here

The breakfast was finished in silence, though he could see she enjoyed the food a lot. She washed the dishes and scolded him for not cleaning the kitchen while he gathered some of her broken stuff.

How did you know this needed to be fixed” she asked suddenly staring at the things she never got time to get repaired.
“I have a spare key to your flat, right”
“So..” she stopped in mid sentence, staring at his back as he worked under the luminous light of store room.
“Yes, I visit this place regularly. Mostly to eat the last night’s left overs. You cook a lot better than the guys who cook in my home” he replied what was not asked, but meant to be.
“Just you alone ?”
“yes. and if you ever saw a tall guy outside your office, you should know his name is Mahesh. He is my hired eyes on the world against you.Do not talk to him though. He is a shy person.Very shy”.
“Ok, I will not. I will send my best friend to ask him out for a date, maybe.” she said aloud as she walked back to the kitchen.
“Will you stay for lunch?”, she asked few minutes later when the tinkering noises stopped and she assumed him to go back reading some of the books he read. Every time she bought a new one for him, it was an omen to her of his arrival. She never read these books but took great care still.
There was no reply. She sighed ! He was gone again, without another bye.
It was the same every time. He came , ate with her , and left late in the night.
Only yesterday he had stayed the night. Though erratic, she was surprised that she had liked him around.
She smiled as she got reminded of how peaceful he looked when asleep.

She came to lock the door, and found a note for her on the table – his handwriting too difficult to miss.

Submitted to Three Word Wednesday

Words I love

words to read
words to write
words to sing
be it day or night.

Give me a book;
sing me a song.

words of smile
words that cry
words that are
always not so nice.

tell me of your good
share with me your pain.

words of comfort
words of rage
words by fools
or maybe a sage

I know you not i think
but your words know me.

words to love
words to breathe
words remain
as I forever sleep.

You will miss me not
but maybe what I said.

Prompted @ Poetry potluck[favorite things] , Big Tent Poetry[Write a poem in which you have to repeat yourself.]

Collection of words for BTP

Big Tent Poetry gave us seven prompts for the week. I chose the following three to be my muse :

Write an ode to a thing you love in nature.

Petals –
dry , bright;
memories kept safe

Petals –
in books
your treasured touch.

Write an ode to a prized physical object.

books –
I treasure
and gift away.

books –
I receive
are never mine.

These are written in Hay(na)ku form. Hay(na)ku  is a 3-line poem with one word in the first line, two words in the second, and three in the third.

Write a poem about drunkenness.

I drink
amused at myself
I can drink
and be amused
by the drink.

You drink
to amuse
others
who drink
to amuse.

The above is a gogyohka. Traditionally gogyohka is a 5-line poetry where every line stands on its own as a separate line too.
