Delightful

This week Reena shared this video [Delightfully Disorienting Dance of people going places] for us to take inspiration from and write something. I was immediately reminded of the song Mad world as I was watching the video –

Delightful in what way,
this rush of cars and feet,
the tap, the honk, the race,
madness now has a busy face;
why not gather to hug and talk
stop a while,watch sunsets,smile;

From my window, I see only roads,
endless stream of traffic to & fro;
I plot stories for some of them –
people going places to create memories
a date, celebratory lunch or movies
with loved ones; hopefully not alone.

Show me a garden with pretty flowers
kids playing games after games,
picnics – food, drinks, ice creme
kindness and love taught in shared space;
that I would say, is the delightful event
when we never fall short of helping hands.

lost & found

A casual wave, a shy smile,
a lazy twirl – and she earned
being called the temptation personified;
the young ones lost hearts,
while old ones enjoyed their silly fights –

each judging her arrogant ways –
confused by the power she held,
none ever thought of her lonely eyes
wandering the hills, far away from all men.

not a soul, she had to talk;
until he moved along as she passed;
within weeks, some days more;
her heart finally found a home.

“This is where I found myself so lost” –
today, on the same hill, he proposed.

Path to freedom

She remembered the first time she walked this path. In the middle of nowhere, she had randomly stopped at this field and taken a walk on the dusty road. She had truly felt free in that moment. She had escaped a bad relationship, an exhausting job, and struggles with ideas of self-value.

This path had beckoned to her mad desire to be break free from everything and everyone. She had returned to this place every year since the first time.

But today, She was not alone. She had no desire to walk the road to feel free. She had found the anchor to her desires and the wind to her flight in him. Soon she would walk the aisle with him.

Newsletter of positive vibes

It started with one of my favorite twitter person starting his newsletter – #SoG ( a daily one ! ) A few months later I subscribed to newsletter of another inspiring lady from twitter and it kind of made me love this mode of communication. It is as private as much it is public , almost like a blog but this one I read in my emails and can respond immediately and directly to the writer. So a few more newsletter subscriptions later , I wanted to try my own. And that’s how “Letters By Prats” started two weeks back.

Yesterday when I was searching for a poem to share , I came across Reena’s exploration challenge and it took me to a time when I had fallen into a pattern of being down and out.

Every silver cloud , was sabotaged by my own attitude and insecurities. The worst part of all this was that I completely botched one of my best friendships during that phase and it’s never been same since. It drained the best of people around me in personal space , to make me stop being so bitter and full of resentments, but it was to no avail. and even today , months and miles away from that feeling , I am never too sure when I might slip into the old habit..

Bigger egos , smaller eyes,

heart so cold , hands clutched tight,

away from sanity , the words go,

accustomed to darkness,

the weak ones will grow..

And that inspired my second poem I shared hoping it finds resonance and helps someone battle the darkness just one more day ! While I can not turn back time and teach myself those lessons earlier , I do hope to never have to live through a moment when I lose faith on myself. It hasn’t been easy , but it has been indeed a huge learning and turning point that I hope I can share better with others and spread positive vibes , in all ways possible. This realization is what I decided to link to Trent’s call for weekly smiles because I have pledged to treat all that life throws at me with first a smile and then probably try not to run away all times 😛

Light of poetry

The thing about poetry,
Or whatever I feel is poetry,
Is no frills, no spare words,
Only bones given
To be filled with imagination
Of whoever reads
The lines, or between;
The appeal of poetry for me
Is in getting my feels,
My thoughts , my words right,
the only thing that matters,
The only thing making me write
I know no other way
That makes my heart see light …

Walk of shame ..

Bestie : Why are you walking like this ?
Me : like what ?
B : Umm.. like different ..
M *obviously panicking* : different .. ha ha .. no , no , not at all.
B: Nopes, I know your walk. This is not you. Oh my god , did you ?
M *pretending hard to ignore*
B: Oh yes , you did. You did it again.
M: I did nothing.
B : What’s the count this time ? How was it , tell now !
M *giving up* : I lost a drunk bet for 100 squats. I can’t wait to get my thighs back to normal now.
B: Don’t. I like your slow walk. I have to run in my heels otherwise to catch up !
M: You are a sadist, you know !
